La grande mappa del Cassini che raffigura lo Stato Veneto poco prima della caduta di Venezia, che avvenne soltanto cinque anni dopo, nel 1797.
Ogni foglio era inserito separatamente all’interno del “Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale” del Cassini che poteva vantarsi di essere un’edizione aggiornata, tanto che, come si specifica nel titolo, risultava “delineato sulle ultime osservazioni”. Essendo ogni foglio introdotto singolarmente, ogni carta presenta una propria cornice ed un proprio titolo, oltre naturalmente esclusive iscrizioni e peculiari epigrafi.
I quattro cartigli descrittivi sono posti posti negli angoli in modo che, una volta giuntati i quattro fogli, i rispettivi titoli si vengano a trovare esattamente nei quattro estremi.

Nice small map covering the Belluno area in Veneto from the Mercator Hondius “Atlas Minor” published in Amsterdam in 1648 at Jannsonius with german text on verso. In 1607 Jodocus Hondius published a reduced size version of Mercator’s “Atlas”, itself suitably titled “Atlas Minor”. The maps were copied from those of the great cartographer Mercator of around 1580-90 or were reductions of Hondius’ own maps of 1606. [cod.397/15]
